The National Weather Service in Baltimore MD/Washington DC has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in West Virginia. Opequon Creek near Martinsburg affecting Berkeley and Jefferson Counties. For the Opequon Creek. including Martinsburg. Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHAT. Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE. Opequon Creek near Martinsburg. * WHEN. Until late tomorrow evening. * IMPACTS. At 12.5 feet, The creek is well out of its banks with lowlands nearby flooded. Golf Course Road /County Road 36/ is flooded near the Van Metre Ford Pedestrian Bridge. Fields and backyards near the creek are flooded and some residents may need to move items to higher ground. Several other roads are flooded, including Grapevine Road, Douglas Grove Road, and Paynes Ford Road. Backwater flooding is occurring on small tributaries, including Tuscarora Creek. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 12:30 AM EDT Friday the stage was 8.3 feet, or 1.7 feet below flood stage. - Forecast. The river is expected to rise above flood stage early this morning to a crest of 13.0 feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage tomorrow afternoon. - Flood stage is 10.0 feet. - Flood History.
