At 713 PM EDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near West Liberty to near Fort Recovery, moving south at 25 mph. HAZARD. Wind gusts up to 50 mph, half inch hail, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, and very heavy rain. SOURCE. Radar indicated. IMPACT. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Hail may cause minor damage to vegetation. Lightning can cause serious injury or death. Visibility will be poor and hydroplaning is possible. Locations impacted include. Springfield, Troy, Sidney, Piqua, Greenville, Urbana, Tipp City, New Carlisle, West Milton, Northridge, Versailles, Covington, Arcanum, St. Paris, Newport, Bradford, Union City, Mechanicsburg, Pleasant Hill, and Ansonia. This includes the following Interstates. I-70 in Ohio between mile markers 64 and 70. I-75 in Ohio between mile markers 69 and 91. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a sturdy building. Motorists should slow down and use extra caution. When thunder roars, go indoors! Do not stay in the open or seek shelter under trees when lightning threatens. The combination of heat and humidity will lead heat index values to reach the mid to upper 90s this afternoon. Heat index of 100 degrees will be possible over some spots across the lowlands this afternoon. If going outside, drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun, and check in with relatives and neighbors. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
