Any fires that start may spread rapidly and become difficult to control, especially in areas of brush, dropped leaves, and unharvested fields. PRECAUTIONARY ACTIONS. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged today. Take extra care to prevent the start of accidental fires when smoking or operating vehicles around dropped leaves and dormant vegetation or crops. Low relative humidity values resulting from exceptionally dry weather will impose an increased risk for fire danger this afternoon. Relative humidity values are expected to drop into the upper 20 to low 30 percent range during peak heating hours across eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. In addition, easterly wind gusts to 15-20 mph at times, highest in the PA ridges, are expected this afternoon which may also help to locally drop relative humidity values further as well.
